Gave the Octus model another shot, this time reworking the shader for the force field.
Managed to come up with a near transparent version that offered skin like sub surface light scattering.  This style better captured the force field effect with the mild white ‘outline’ at the edges and overlaps.
Another render in Brazil.  (6hrs 36min)

Newton totally has an oral fixation- he likes ice-sticks and later we see him eating snow and describing it.

I don’t mean an oral fixation in a dirty sense, he just finds a lot of pleasure in taste and that’s actually very interesting because the ‘Oral Stage’ in a child’s life is the first 0-18 months. Basically it is a time when the pleasure centres are mostly concentrated around the mouth which is why kids are so prone to try eating everything.

And, when you think about it, Octus hasn’t been activated for very long and it may be that he is simply going through the same process.

So, you know, I think that’s pretty neat.
